Eating in Castlebar day or night is a real joy. Here, we sample the fare offered by restaurants and cafes in Castlebar. We walked around the town and looked at the menus (well we stopped here and there too and sampled the menus - but only in the interests of science and good reporting - it's a hard job and someone's got to do it)! Anyway, below you will find a selection of the delights awaiting the hungry 4-day walker, blues festival gourmet, Patrick's Day parader, those looking for a new lunch spot or perhaps even a prospective information age investor visiting Castlebar in order to spy out the lie of the land here! This is just a quick snapshot of what is available every day here - they are not definitive menus just the stuff that caught our fancy.

Day time and evening eating establishments are listed. Many pubs do lunches, cafes generally run from morning to afternoon, the main restaurants serve meals from 7 pm to 10:30 and some to midnight. Fast food restaurants open till late especially at weekends. A number of restaurants close on Mondays but there will always be somewhere to serve you an excellent meal with a warm Castlebar welcome.
