Castlebar online chess boards allow you to play chess remotely with a friend. This is Castlebar's equivalent of the chess board on the Mall. You can watch other games in progress or start a new one if there's a board free. The Castlebar Bulletin Board or ICQ can be used to get someone to play against you. You can use email to send notification of moves where games are played over a period of time. To play select a new board and make your moves using standard notation. If you wish, can protect your board by typing a password in the password box - so that other people don't mess up your pieces! Don't forget the password though. Also remember the board number you are playing on.

The computer does not play against you. It will recognise illegal moves but you have to recognise stalemate and checkmate! Read the help file for further information. Boards left idle for more than a week will be removed.
