IFI National presents A Mayo Ciné-Concert
This remarkable programme of films from the IFI Irish Film Archive features films made in and about Mayo by amateur and professional filmmakers. It includes:

Whaling Afloat and Ashore - the earliest documentary made in Ireland filmed at a whaling station on Iniskea in 1908.

Waters of Providence - a film made by Fr Francis Browne SJ at the Foxford Woollen Mills in 1947 which provides a fascinating record of the community at work, at prayer and at leisure.

The films will be accompanied by a score devised by internationally renowned musicians Colm and Rossa O'Snodaigh of Kíla and harpist Cormac de Barra, who will use instrumental, percussive, foley and vocal elements to produce a dynamic fusion of traditional and contemporary music.

This programme is funded by Arts Council Touring.
