An exhibition of oil paintings inspired by Ireland’s coastline, from locations in Kerry, Mayo, Donegal, and North County Dublin. According to Co. Dublin artist Angie Grimes, “the work is executed in thick impasto and depicts, I hope, the glorious wonders of the ever-changing vista of our coast and shore.” Having grown up in the seaside town of Skerries, Angie’s paintings express both personal and cultural histories. “I have a deep affinity for the elemental power of water and the mysterious forces of nature. My paintings evolve through a process of rich layers of pigment, the rhythms of application creating depths and swells. Colour is used to heighten and expand the work’s emotional range, drawn from the lyrical and emotive narrative in my art.”
