Field Trip to Louisburgh Area.

On Sunday next, September 30th 2012, Mayo Historical & Archaeological Society will

visit Louisburgh for a guided tour of historical and archaeological sites in the area. (Own transport).
We will meet at the Court House, Castlebar at 10.30am (sharp), and head to the Clew Bay Heritage Centre at Westport Quay. You can meet us there at 11.00am., if that is more convenient. Plenty of car parking spaces there.
We will then head towards Louisburgh visiting the following sites :

Tour guide Bronach Joyce and a 7th century cross-slab at Kilgeever, near Louisburgh.

 Glashpatrick church site.
 Kilgeever Abbey
 Shrawee Wedge Tomb
 Bunlahinch Clapper Bridge
Killeen Standing Stone & Cross Slab.

Standing stones near Cross Strand.

You should wear suitable footwear, and it probably would be sensible to bring rain gear!
Also bring a packed lunch.

Bronach Joyce of Westport Historical Society will be our guide, and we look forward to  a most interesting outing.
