Mayo Historical & Archaeological Society will be holding their next lecture in this seasons series on Monday next, 16th November at 8.00pm. sharp in The Michael Davitt Room, 1st. floor in GMIT, Castlebar. This lecture is being held in conjunction with The Heritage Dept. of the College and we welcome as our guest lecturer Mr Eamonn P Kelly, Keeper of Antiquities at The National Museum of Ireland.
Mr Kelly has chosen as his topic " Bog Bodies" which have assumed National prominence since one of the most recent finds in Croghan Bog, near Daingean, County Offaly in 2003.  In his illustrated lecture Mr. Kelly will look at some of the Archaeological and Forensic evidence for the Croghan Bodies and discuss the idea that at least some of these were ritual killings and make comparisons with similar body finds in Ireland and other European countries.

This promises to be a most interesting lecture and all are welcome.

The Society wishes to acknowledge the help and support from The Heritage Department of GMIT, Castlebar in staging this lecture series for the 2009/2010 season.
