New Lecture Series

Mayo Historical & Archaeological Society.

A new series of lectures organised by the Mayo Historical & Archaeological Society in association with the Heritage Studies Dept., GMIT, Castlebar, commences on Wednesday, October 22nd at 8 pm. The first speaker will be Dr. Stephen Harrison, UCD. whose topic will be 'Viking Burials in Ireland'

The November lecture will be delivered by Dr. Brian Dornan,  whose illustrated lecture deals with the history and archaeology of the Inishkea Islands.

In December, the speaker will be visiting Australian, Prof. Jeff Kildea, whose topic will be The role of Mayomen who died in the Anzacs (Australian, New Zealand, Army Corps) during WW1. Over seventy troops from the county were Killed in Action.

The society welcomes new members, you can enrol at any of the meetings.
