Prehistoric Standing Stone.

The prehistoric standing stone pictured, is situated near Doolough Valley on the Louisburgh - Leenane road. The familiar shape of Croagh Patrick can be seen in the photo to the right of the monument.

Archaeologists believe that standing stones were ritual sites, boundary markers , or perhaps  marked a burial place of some important personage.
