Michael Connor and Ronan Collins swap memories at the Showband Exhibition in the Museum of Countrylife, Castlebar.

This photo, taken today (14 April) at the Museum of Country-Life shows Michael Connor of Parke, who has a large selection of memorabilia relating to the Irish Showband era, and Ronan Collins, the popular RTE radio presenter, who delivered a most interesting talk to a very attentive audience prior to the viewing of the 'One Nighters' a filmed documentary made over forty years ago showing some aspects of the everyday life of the Royal Showband‘s members. This event was part of an ongoing exhibition at the museum that features showbands of the 1950's and 1960's, and underlines the important part the bands played in the entertainment and the social history of the people of Ireland .
