Thanks for taking the time to reply and I agree that there is some truth to the fact that travellers bring alot of problems on themselves. There are two sides to this, one, is that the traveller chooses, to a certain extent to live outside what is considered normal society, the other side is that so-called normal society pushes the travellers out of society because they have a different lifestyle. A bit of a vicious circle I think. It would be nice to break it.

However, in all your arguments you still haven't showed me how the travellers are such a burden on the state, as opposed to all the corrupt businessmen and politicians who have robbed us blind while getting pats on the back for being such great entrepreneurs.

The arguments put forward by the anti-traveller people here are largely based on hearsay, myths and one-off incidents, tarring the whole community with the one bursh just because of the actions of a few. How would you like if I called you a lying, cheating, non-insurance paying psychopath just because I read in the newspaper that that's what Castlebar people are like. Sure if one of them does it, they all must be like that.

The facts remain, travellers have much lower life expectancy, lower education standards and poorer living conditions then the average. The reasons for this are many and complex. To say that these are the people to blame for your high taxes and lack of material success is laughable.
