CHRISTMAS OPENING TIMES:

CLOSED: Wednesday 24 December from 1pm & Thursday 25 December (Christmas Day)

OPEN: Friday 26 December & Saturday 27 December: 10am - 5pm;  Sunday 28 December: 2-5pm

(Museum Shops and Cafes closed on Friday 26 December).

CLOSED: Monday 29 December

OPEN: Tuesday 30 December - Saturday 03 January: 10am - 5pm; Sunday 04 January: 2-5pm.

SANTA/ELFIE SELFIE MUG-SHOT

Santa knows whether you have been naughty or nice...but do we know if Santa has been behaving himself....and what about those mischievous Elves? Dress up in one of our festive outfits and take your mug shot at the Preserving the Peace exhibition. Email your photo to ouririshheritage@gmail.com to feature in our online Rogues Gallery.

As Christmas is quickly approaching and we are caught up in the rush of buying presents and putting up Christmas decorations, take a few moments to consider how generations past celebrated Christmas in Ireland

Evoke memories with our toy-shop display of pre-loved toys taken from the Museum archives.

TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS:

Preserving the Peace: Policing on the Island of Ireland 1814-2014

To mark the bicentenary of The Peace Preservation Act 1814 the National Museum of Ireland-Country Life has developed Preserving the Peace - an exhibition dedicated to Irish policing. This exhibition will run until 24 May 2015. MUSEUM SHOP

Visit the Museum shop for all your Christmas shopping needs.  It's a great place to pick up presents with the added benefit of buying Irish.

The craft section is a real winner with its elegant scarves and blankets as well as gorgeous jewellery, pottery and hand turned wood.
