This exhibition explores the stories of 19th century young female Irish emigrants alongside those of eight women who have recently immigrated to Mayo. Every migrant journey is unique, yet there are shared experiences of isolation and loneliness but also of adaptation and adventure. All Ages

The On Sight Trail around the grounds of Turlough Park, will run until September 2015. The theme is 'Welcome to the Stranger: Migrant People, Places and Spaces'. On Sight is a collaboration between the Museum of Country Life, Mayo County Council Arts Office, Mayo Arts Squad and independent artists. Pick up a map for this popular art trail at Reception

Mayo Girls and the Irish Mission
Watson House in New York City was the home of the Mission of Our Lady of the Rosary for the Protection of Irish Immigrant Girls. The Mission helped 100,000 young Irish women settle into the United States in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
