Workshop. Pancake Tuesday!

Join staff of the Education & Outreach Department and learn about the traditions of Shrove Tuesday and afterwards make and toss pancakes! Location: Museum Galleries Level -2

Wednesday 9 February: 2.30pm
Talk & Demonstration. Plain and Purl and some knitting traditions

From a small but interesting collection of knitted objects in the Museum, curator Anne O'Dowd talks about the history of knitting and the development of patterns. Location: Museum Galleries Level -2

Saturday 12 - Saturday 20 February
Council of National Cultural Institutions (CNCI) Open Week

Education and Resource Rooms will be open to visitors to drop in and meet Education Staff - All Guided Tours Free. For further details contact the Education and Outreach Department

Sunday 13 February: 2.30pm
Workshop. Prepare for Valentine's Day!

Make a Valentine card for someone special using the museum exhibitions as inspiration, with artist Agnes Nyland.

TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS
 Running until 24 April 2005:
Down Memory Lane: Childhood in the 1950s. 
This exhibition illustrates life for children of this period, dealing with Birth, Christening, Sleeping, Eating and Drinking, Health, Education and Religious Life. There is also a large selection of Toys and Games on display. An extensive Education programme will run over the course of the exhibition. Further details available from the Education and Outreach Department.

Mias Tighearnáin: St. Tiernan's Dish
on display at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life
The famous medieval reliquary, the Mias Tighearnáin, St. Tiernan's Dish, has traditionally been associated with Errew near Crossmolina, Co. Mayo and has been in the care of the National Museum of Ireland since 1999.
