Castlebar Mitchels Under 10's played Breaffy in McHale Park on Tuesday 8th June. At the end of the first half, Mitchels were just one point in arrears, even though they were playing into a strong breeze. The second half proved to be a different matter with some cracking goals scored by a marauding Breaffy attack. Though Castlebar never gave up and scored some excellent goals themselves from the likes of Cathal Walsh, Michael Flynn and Kevin Keena they couldn't close the gap sufficiently and ended the game with a 10 point deficit. The Under 10 Mitchels management team of Gerard Murphy, Matt Flynn and Jimmy Feeney have to be commended on their policy of giving every player of the 25 who showed up on the day an opportunity to play at least part of the game regardless of the result. It is far too seldom now that children are encouraged to participate in sport for sheer enjoyment and where winning is not overemphasized.
