Swimmers from Castlebar Swimming Club finished off a most successful season for the club as they represented Mayo in the National Finals of the Community Games on weekend of August 20th-23rd.
The swimming events were held in Dundalk, as the Mosney pool was deemed unsuitable.
The highlights of the weekend were –

Conor O’Malley’s swim in the Boys U/10 freestyle where he left his opposition behind to finish in 1st place and take a gold medal.
Laura Keaveney’s swim in U/16 fly where she got everything right and had the perfect swim to finish in 2nd place and take silver
Nicholas Quinn swimming U/12 breaststroke finished in 2nd place to take silver where he fought off opposition from Galway, Wexford and Dublin..
A big sensation was caused by Conal Joyce as he swam his 50m backstroke to finish in 3rd place and take bronze in a personal best time.
.
Aisling Bourke took 5th place in U/14 breaststroke where she swam extremely well
.
James Sweeney U/14 breaststroke, finished 3rd in his heat as did Sally Cunniffe in U/12 breaststroke, both swimmers are a year out of their age group and both just missed the final in their event
.
Eoghan Grady made his debut at Community Games this year and swam a great freestyle in U/8 age group. Anna Tuohy also did the club proud as she took her place in the U/8 freestyle and finished in 3rd place in her heat.

The U/13 freestyle relay team of James Sweeney, Rory Tuohy, Tony Sweeney and Nicholas Quinn swam a great race and were just pipped out of the final.

Congratulations to them all.
