The Duvillaun cross-slab, situated inside an early anchorite enclosure on Duvillaun Móre, an uninhabited island just off the Mullet peninsula, is inscribed with a cross-of-arcs on one side and a crucifixion scene on the other. Art historians are divided on the date of the monument some claiming it to be a 7th century piece, while others argue that the cross is the work of 9-10th century sculptors. In any case it is a beautiful object and just one of many sculptures on the hermitage islands round the coast of county Mayo.

Crucufixion scene on the west face.
