The Irish Chamber Orchestra Plays Castlebar

The Irish Chamber Orchestra is a highly distinguished national institution fulfilling a broad remit both nationally and internationally. The orchestra plays in the Linenhall Theatre on Monday 26th September at 8.00pm. Consisting of top Irish and international string players, the orchestra has gained a reputation as a vibrant, refreshing and influential force on the classical and contemporary music scene. The ICO enjoys a busy touring schedule, and its special personality has engaged audiences the world over, including South Korea, China, Australia, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the United States, with performances at some of the world’s most prestigious venues. The Linenhall concert programme includes works by Tchaikovsky (Andante cantabile Op. 11, and Serenade, Op. 48), Boccherini (Quintet in C, Op. 30, No. 6 - Night Music on the Streets of Madrid), and contemporary Irish composer Elaine Agnew (Concerto for Two Violins and String Orchestra - Sixth of January: The Night of the Big Wind). For this concert the ICO will be directed by Katherine Hunka (violin). An evening of dazzling and exciting classical music in prospect.
