From www.castlebar.ie Castlebar Mitchels Hurling
Hurling on the Green & Academy prove to be a huge success For the fifth year Castlebar Mitchels Hurling Club ran an Easter project titled 'HURLING ON THE GREEN’ (for children 12 and under) and once again it proved to be a great success with huge numbers turning up each day. In the afternoons the club ran an academy for the 13- 16yr olds and that also proved to be a huge hit. Thanks to all our coaches for their efforts over the two weeks and to all the youngsters who turned up and enjoyed themselves. Genfit Cup The Genfit Cup games were postponed this weekend due to the Mayo V Kerry league semi-final. Hard luck to the Mayo lads on going so close to a first ever division 2 final. Under 16s The under 16s had a busy week. On Friday the Section 2 played Belmullet and won on a 5-9 to 1-0 scoreline. Mitchels lead by 1-3 to 0-0 at half time but put in a far better second half showing. On Saturday the section 1 team played Tooreen in the first of the semi-finals of the league and a good tight game ended in a draw, Castlebar 1-6; Tooreen 2-3. Contact People Under 8 Fr.
