State-of-the-Art Children's Centre is On the Way Representatives from St. Patrick's National School, the Family Centre, the Parish and Happy Hours pre-school have set up a company called the Castlebar Children's Project. They have applied for planning permission to build a state-of-the-art children's centre. The centre will have childcare facilities including facilities for supervised homework for children aged eight to twelve. If it goes ahead the centre will be situated on the grounds of St. Patrick's National School. The group is currently looking for a grant from the Department of Justice towards the project.
Colin's Novel Marriage Proposal gets the Thumbs-up from Helen Chef Colin Redmond from Hogs Heaven in Castlebar made the headlines this week over his means of proposal to his girlfriend Helen Herdman. Colin put his proposal in large lettering on the showboard at the Mayo Movie World cinema complex in Castlebar. When receptionist Helen emerged for lunch from the adjoining leisure centre she was almost lost for words but managed to say 'Yes'.
GMIT Student Wins All-Ireland Golf Title Alan O'Sullivan, a member of the GMIT student golf team has won the individual best score at a recent All Ireland ISSA Colleges tournament held in Carlow. The 4-man team from Castlebar won the Connaught Colleges selection. Alan hopes to win a golf scholarship to the US, following in the footsteps of his brother Sean.
