Group from South Mayo Branch of MS Ireland to climb Croagh Patrick on Saturday 7th September

Croagh Patrick Balloon Launch

Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological disorder which currently affects over 6000 people in Ireland. At present there is no cure for MS, but its symptoms can be controlled via medication and therapy.

Through the work and support of MS Ireland – The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland - help is available to assist people with MS to maintain a good quality of life and provide essential services for its members. This year (for the first time) has seen the introduction of a physiotherapy programme in the Mayo region specifically for people with MS. Members of MS Ireland in Mayo have also been able to avail of an exercise programme specific to their needs. Both of these programmes have proved to be hugely beneficial and it is hoped that these vital services will continue.

On Saturday 7th September members of The South Mayo Branch of MS Ireland are climbing Croagh Patrick to highlight the needs of the 157 people in Mayo diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. When they reach the peak they will be releasing a balloon for each of the 157 people with MS in the Mayo region.

Throughout Mayo, the many friends and volunteers working on behalf of The South Mayo Branch of MS Ireland will be raising sponsorship for the forthcoming balloon release. All donations will be used to help promote awareness of Multiple Sclerosis and secure vital services such as physiotherapy for people with MS.

Please support the efforts of The South Mayo Branch of MS Ireland by sponsoring a balloon.
