Hoteliers warn of Job Losses over costs
Hoteliers throughout Mayo have expressed serious concern about increasing costs they are experiencing and have warned that such costs could result in job losses or lack of investments. They have also rebutted accusations that their prices are too high, arguing that on a value for money basis they compare favourably with other European destinations.

Heated Exchanges as Council debates Nice
At a recent meeting of Mayo County Council a controversial debate was stirred up among council members. The majority believes that the Yes vote is the most logical choice for the progression of Irish Interests. However Cllr. Johnny Mee was critical of comments made by the president of the European parliament, Mr Pat Cox and An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern with regard to their castigation of the "No" Campaigners.

The late Mick Cuffe
There were tears and laughter, grief and memories, in equal measure for the funeral ceremonies of singer, musician and comedian Mick Cuffe. They came in their thousands from near and far, to the Church of the Holy Rosery and Ballintubber Abbey Cemetery to pay their respects to one of Mayo’s best known entertainers.
