Campaign to free ‘innocent’ lorry driver from Greek jail
A major campaign is underway to highlight the plight of a young Cloonfad Man who is currently serving a three and a half year sentence in Greece. Eamon Donnellan was arrested in Patra with 21 wrapped pallets of cigarettes in the container truck. Mr Donnellan said that his was an innocent victim in the whole affair and that the cargo was planted.

Death-trap road
A stretch of road between Ballina and Dromore West has been included in a “Black list” of deadliest roads in the country. Three people have died on the main Ballina - Sligo road between 1996 to 2000. In this period there were 7 serious accidents and 23 minor accidents. The figures have been published in a report from the NRA called the “High Accident Locations 1996-2000 Report”.

Health Boost for Erris Area
The Erris area has been chosen as one of the ten areas earmarked for the establishment of a primary care team, which will work to bring a wide range of health services to the community. A total of €8.4million had been allocated nationally for the project, which will bring GPs, nurses/midwives, home helps, occupational and physiotherapists in one location.
