Town Council in land title probe
A probe is being conducted into land ownership at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar after publication by The Connaught Telegraph of a document outlining the holders of property at the location. This has arisen out of research conducted by residents opposed to the proposal to rezone land around the lake, regarding the ownership of the lands. The controversial rezoning proposal was rejected following a council vote earlier this year but can be re-examined by making a submission to the new town plan, which is due to go on display during December and January.

Vandalism at Castlebar Pre-school
A prefab classroom, close to Scoil Raifteiri, used as a pre-school by 50 three-year-olds in Castlebar was ransacked by vandals over the weekend. Desks and tables were upturned, pain and sand were scattered round the room and paintings by the youngsters were torn from the walls. The room was also flooded. Gardai are investigating the break-in and are appealing for witnesses who may be able to help in catching the perpetrators, or who may have noticed anything suspicious in the vicinity of Scoil Raifteiri last weekend.
