Offshore platform option ruled out by Gas Company
An ongoing hearing in Ballina conducted by An Bord Pleanála, into the proposal to construct a Gas Terminal at Bellanaboy Bridge in North Mayo, has been told by representatives of the exploration company, Enterprise Energy Ireland, that it would be totally uneconomical to utilise an offshore platform option for bringing Gas ashore in Mayo. The company claimed that this option would add an additional €360 million to the project cost. A final decision on the proposal is expected next week.

Choral Concerts in Castlebar
The Mayo Male Voice Choir will perform in Christmas concerts in Castlebar in the coming weeks organised by Mayo County Council Arts Office. The first concert will be held in the Sacred Heart Hospital Chapel on Sunday Dec. 1st at 3.00pm, with the second taking place in the foyer of the Mayo General Hospital the following Sunday, 8th Dec. at 3.00pm

Carnacon Champions
Celebrations and congratulations were the order of the day in Carnacon over the weekend, after the Ladies Senior Football Team clinched the All Ireland Club Gaelic Football Title at St. Loman’s Park in Mullingar. The ladies defeated Ulster champions Carrickmore by a considerable 2-14 to 0-10. The team was captained by Cora Staunton and included a number of members the All Ireland Winning Mayo team.
