Castlebar Car Boot sales get the boot
Castlebar Town council has given the red card to a local development association by closing down their main fund-raising activity. The Snugboro Development Association has been notified that their car boot sales, held in Castle Street car park, have become a victim of new regulations governing casual trading in the town.

Gas hearing runs into fourth week
The oral hearing into the planning application be enterprise Energy Ireland to build a Gas Terminal at Bellanaboy in North Mayo entered its fourth week last Monday. After a 2-week hearing last February, An Bord Pleanala asked for additional information from the promoters on the questions of site selection/alternatives, health and safety, peat removal and visual impact.

School break-in ‘Sickening thuggery’
A County Councillor has described as “sickening thuggery” a break in, which occurred at Lecanvey National School, near Louisburgh, at the weekend. A number of items including a CD player and a TV were taken in the robbery. Local Gardai are investigating the matter and are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
