The class of 2004 who successfully completed their Certificate course in Journalism at CCFE have expressed satisfaction with their year’s work. "It worked out really well. Some of us are going to Tallaght IT to study Audio-Visual Communications" beamed one student. "More are considering link courses in other colleges around the country". All the students described the course as an enervating experience. Placement with leading newspapers, local and national, and with radio stations, proved to be a popular part of the year’s study.

Following rigorous training in specific media techniques, students researched and completed feature articles and broadcasted on a huge range of interests. They also availed of the opportunity to meet some key players in local and national government. Interesting projects in media analysis featured issues as diverse as globalisation and stereotyping in music.

Course lecturer Fiachra Mac Gabhann also expressed satisfaction with the student’s work: "We are one of the few colleges in Ireland offering the Print Journalism Certificate. This year, as always, we are looking for students who are naturally curious, people who are prepared to tackle issues, big and small, people who are willing to see what is there – not what we think is there".
