Seconds/development Squad.

There was no game for the development squad on Sunday but training continues as usual with our next game at home to Loughrea on the fifth of November. There is the possibility of a friendly so all players are asked to stay in contact with team management.

Mini Rugby

Training continues on Saturday next at the clubhouse from 10.30 to 11.45. All players under 8,9,10,11 and 12 are welcome and new players are always welcome. Training times have also changed for this season with training taking place from 10.30 to 11.45. All Parents are asked to make a note of this time.

Underage

Under 14

The league starts for the under 14 team on Saturday the 14th in Castlebar against Ballinrobe kicking off at 12noon. Training continues on Wednesday’s at 7pm and all players must attend with the start of the league so close.

Under 18

Castlebar U-18's suffered their first defeat of the season, when they came out second-best to a strong Buccaneers side in Athlone on Sunday. Buccs had all the answers, and their powerful, well-balanced side gave the Castlebar lads a torrid afternoon. In fairness to the Castlebar players, although out-powered by the opposition, they never let up, and played with Great Spirit to the very end.

The game was scoreless until 25 minutes, when sustained attacking play from Buccs led to the opening try.

Castlebar responded immediately with some fine driving play from captain Daire Mulgrew, Ross Flynn, Damien McLoughlin and Conor Walsh, before fullback Fintan Casey crashed over in the corner. There was excellent support play from Luke Staunton, Shane Casey, Barry Lydon  - as well as a superb display from "man of the match" David Casey. Unfortunately Liam Sweeney sustained a hand injury in the lead up to the try, and had to leave the action.

In the second half, the stronger Buccs team took over, and although Castlebar tackled hard, it seemed that there were always extra players there to continue the attack.

Next up is a home fixture at 1.00 against Ballina. This will serve as a curtain raiser for the First's crucial match against Buccaneers.

Under 20

The Under 20 team got off to an excellent start on Saturday when they defeated UCG 22-15.

The Under 20’s are in action on Saturday in Castlebar with Connemara the visitors. Please come out and support the lads with the game kicking off at 2.30. Players are asked to be at the clubhouse at 1.30.

Lotto!

The draw was held last Friday week in Morans and the numbers drawn were 6,11,13 and 22. There were three match three winners who will be notified by members of the committee. It is important that more players come out and help with the tickets. People respond to the players and it is great PR for the club. So could as many players as possible support the lotto next month.
