Stop Press....
Castlebar Mitchels Camogie Club host Turloughmore in McHale Park on Thu 14 Aug at 7.30 pm.  This is in the Galway Camogie Championship and after a stirring game v Pedraic Pearses on Mon 11 Aug hopes are high of a very good performance.

Co Senior Hurling Championship
The Senior game v Ballyhaunis, played last Wed night saw a much improved performance by the Mitchels.  Indeed there was a general air of urgency about the play and were matching their rivals in all aspects of hurling except for a vital area, an inability to put the shackles on the prolific Ballyhaunis scorer in chief.  A couple of unfortunate goals put a gloss on score line which was much against the run of play.  With continued training an improvement in performance will follow and its is hoped that there will be a greater turnout for training over the next few weeks.

All Ireland Jnr Hurling
Best wishes to the Mayo team as they take on Donegal in the All Ireland Jnr Final.  What a boost to hurling, a win here would be and indeed it would be only a fitting rewards for the effort by the team and management over the season.

Congrats to the Co u21 team in their B semi final after a fine win last week.  The prospects of another All Ireland beckon.

Hurling on the Green
The Hurling on the Green project continues with large crowds attending.  The idea has caught the imagination of the national media and it is hoped that more information will be available next week.

Camogie
The girls are training very hard of late and a full panel has been evident in recent weeks.  Championship games are now just around the corner and a high performance is expected. Once again the girls have caught the imagination of a well know GAA magazine with a fine article on Camogie in Castlebar featured.  Well done girls.
