“May Day Customs and Traditions/Buttermaking” Listen to Curator Dr. Séamas MacPhilib talk about the May Day customs and traditions and afterwards turn the churn with local buttermaker Jean Beattie. Admission free but booking is necessary
Thursday 1st May ’03: 6.30pm AFTER DARK CIRCLE “Aoibhneas na Bealtaine : The Sweets of May”
Traditions of May Day in Ireland and Europe Join Museum curator, Dr. Séamas Mac Philib as he uses the folklife collection to explain about the past traditions of May Day in Ireland and throughout Europe. Buttermaking demonstration, musical entertainment and refreshments provided Admission €15 per person. Booking is necessary. Tuesday 6th – Saturday 31st May ‘03 “BEALTAINE: FESTIVAL OF CREATIVITY IN OLDER AGE” Details of daily events available from the Reception Desk Admission free but booking is necessary Sunday 4th May ’03: 2.30pm TALK “May Day Customs”
Join Curator Dr. Séamas Mac Philib to hear all about the traditions and customs of May Day and also watch Jean Beattie make butter the old fashioned way. Admission free but booking is necessary
