ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE CURRANE ACHILL

"NA LEACHTAƍ"

This archaelogical site is located along the coast road at Currane (Just off main road).

It consists of a series of four burial mounds and is located about 300 metres from lay-by is at the site of the Spanish Armada memorial. This plaque was erected to commemorate the ship San Nicolas Prodaneli which was wrecked on the shore at Toorglass, Currane Peninsula, in 1588.

This site is known locally as "Na LeachtaĆ­." Anybody who has further information on this site comment would be most welcome. This site does not appear to be recorded in "National Monuments " database.
