Cuba 50 Years After the Revolution
By Che

On the 50th Anniversary of Cuba's revolution we have some photos from Havana with an emphasis on the large hoardings exhorting the population to continue the revolution. |
Instead of commercial advertising hoardings Cuba has posters extolling motherhood, apple pie, education, liberty - and defiance of the US blockade. This one translates as "Examples of Heroism. Freedom Now!"
Images of Che Guevara are common.
Have you worn the Che T-Shirt?
Che again - "Your Example Lives"
The 50th Anniversary of the revolution is 2 January 2009 - presumably this 2008 poster '49 Aniversario' of the revolution has already been updated.
With strong direction. Forward!
Patria o Muerte - like in Giron (the Bay of Pigs)
El Plan Bush - defiance.

El Plan Bush -
One week's blockade equals 48 locomotives
Chavez on Cuban TV in Havana - Chavez is popular.
"We will realize the dream of Bolivar and Marti" with Chavez prominent.
Old American cars make up about 30% of the traffic on the roads.
Would it get an NCT?
"Education is to Create"
Cheerfully in the vanguard?
Outside an establishment - a partner of "homeland or death" - Patria o Meurte. It probably reads better in Spanish.
Castro and the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew
El Capitolio - the former seat of government now home to the Cuban Academy of Sciences.
In Havana a whole wall devoted to literary and artistic names of old Havana.
Cuba has two currencies a special tourist convertible peso and a local peso that is worth approximately 20 times less but tourists are not permitted to use the local peso.
The Cuban Flag - lots of them!
Postcard from Cuba
Cuban postage stamps
Like Knock Airport there is an exit tax - but they give you this pretty hologram sticker on your boarding card.
