New bronze figures in Addergoole Titanic Memorial Park, Laherdane are attracting a lot of attention.

Best of luck to the organisors of Mayo Titanic Cultural Week on their Trojan work. With the eyes of the world on Laherdane for this unique commemoration, it will help to put Laherdane and indeed all of Mayo on the itinerary for tourists for years to come.

On Sunday April 8th Mayo Titanic Cultural Week will be officially launched by former President Mary Robinson. The official opening ceremony at St. Patrick's Church, Laherdane will be followed by a re-enactment of the journey taken by The Addergoole Fourteen by horse and sidecar from Laherdane to Castlebar Railway Station en route to Cobh to board the ill fated Titanic.

A bi-lingual Commemorative Plaque will be unveiled at Castlebar Railway Station dedicated to emigration, the memory of the Addergoole Fourteen and William Luke Duffy (a Titanic crew member who was born in Castlebar and also drowned on Titanic.)
