The Amethyst Hotel in Achill where Paul Henry lived and worked as photographed last Sunday in between showers.

Paul Henry 1876-1958 lived and worked here and at other locations in Achill between 1910 and 1919.

Reminiscent of a Caribbean scene - the jungle encroaches on the blue painted door..

The undated planning notice requests permission to demolish it and replace it with a commercial development. There is a huge unfinished concrete basement across the road.

The hotel has a 1993 Mayo West tourism sticker on the door - is it unoccupied for almost 20 years?

Disrepair - furniture within getting damp.
