From 11 to 18 August, for the second time in Ireland, the Latvian Society 3x3 Camp took place in Lough Lannagh village in Castlebar.

38 families, more than 150 Latvians and some non-Latvian spouses from Ireland, UK, Norway, USA and Latvia for a week were singing, dancing, learning language, practical things and values of life, joking, praying, playing, sharing professional and personal experiences, not to lose their Latvian identity, language, traditions and culture.

The 3x3 camp is an opportunity for three generations to spend a week together to maintain the Latvian language and culture in their families all over the world. The language is the main reason for the 3x3 Camp for children who are born outside Latvia.

Latvians believe, that only the man who understands, respects and cares for their ancestral roots can successfully integrate into the society of another country.

Go raibh maith agat Paul & Gerardine Lennon and all staff in Lough Lannagh village for great food, hospitality and support.

This little oakling has a special story. Oakling was born in Latvia and now in Green Island- Ireland was planted by Inguna and Imants Miezis, leaders of 3x3 camp. It will root, grow up big and strong and delight everyone in Lough Lannagh village.
