I remember the white haired man.I think he lived in Market Square. One evening a few of us youngsters were up at the lake on the old path under the graveyard when "the white haired man" motored in on his boat after a days fishing. We stopped to watch and see if he caught anything. He made our day by offering to bring us for a spin up through the lake above the Point on the boat.I can still see him sitting at the back of the boat holding the tiller of the of the outboard( Seagull)as he pointed us in the direction of Croagh Patrick. We chatted away to each other over the noise of the outboard as he sat there oblivious to it!It was the first time for us to be out on the lake on a boat. The trip lasted about 15 minutes but the memory of it has lasted a lot longer There used to be another boat tied up under the graveyard at that time also.
