Held in a jam jar with a three or four point twine handle. Especially brightly coloured males when breeding. The male "raises" the brood. I remember them in all kinds of small streams in farmland, bogs and along main roads. Wonder about the impacts of fertilizer and herbicides in run off water. And reclamation.
