Butch, here I am after 2 am Sunday morning, home after a night out to one of the Chinese restaurants in Westport, (what a change you might say!) and a few bevvies afterwards in what was and is probably still called The Central Hotel at the Ocagon, but bacardi and seacht suas dulls the mind at times,...but I met up with your neighbour of long ago, Assumpta Cawley, happily married for many years to Westport business man and former great tennis player, Pat Bree. Assumpta pleaded with me to please pass on her kindest regards to you and yours.
She told me that she has a photograph of your grandmother feeding the hens with herself and sister Margot and with your good self sitting pretty on top of a cock of hay in the barn.I promised to get the photo from her and post it for all to see in the not too distant future!!
Good ole Assumpta has a very big birthday coming up on August 10th. this year.....so watch this space.
Goodnight now, can't keep the eyes open much longer.
By the way, my mother had tears in her eyes, she was laughing so much, reading your story about your trip to the Gaeltacht. "If only Jim and Helen could read that now" she said.
Also, MM if you read this, my Mum said that your sister Jean was in the choral society at some stage when my Mum played the piano for them?? and that you own mother goes to the prayer meeting on Wednesday evenings!!
It's still a small world around here.
Oiche Mhaith!
