Were you not one of the organisers of a bonfire
in Celtic park behind the Tennis court back in
the 60s Tempus or was it just Ringo and Fergus
Reynolds. They had abriquette bonfire and charged
kids to enjoy the experience.A £1 or suchlike if
I recall.
There was another bonfire in Hobans carpark
around the same time and the Fire Brigade had
to be called because of the danger to the overhead
wires. That was the year that there was a huge
hailstorm in the town with hail as big as stones.
It was so severe that it smashed the roof in
Hobans supermarket ruining stock including boxes
of large chocalate bars.Thay were unsaleable as the paper wrapping was damaged. They ended up
being "saved" by Gerry and James Hoban who
handed it out at the fire.Never was so much eaten
by so few.
