What a great and proud achievement! My own note of nostalgia is that I was first time in St Helena's Bar in 1955, when I was 11 years old. I was making my summer holiday out in Turlough, with my grandmother and two wonderful cousins Angela and Marie Devaney. We were ever eager to get into town for a visit and always made a beeline for "Moran's" as it was usually refered to. Well, I was completely fascinated, never having been in a pub before. Then there was the Rush Street cattle market on Saturday mornings, a spectacular event for a boy brought up in central London. Most of all I remember the friendliness and kindness of Pat and Bridie Moran. In those days the Moran family lived above the shop, and there was a back kitchen downstairs where darts were played in the evening. The atmousphere was very homely. Finally, from my first visit the portrait of Robert Emmet caught my eye, though I had no idea at that time that he was a national hero. It was passed onto the Morans by the previous owner and displayed down through the 50 years as it is still, even though the Bar has undergone other renovations. Long may it remain, and long may "Moran's" remain and prosper. Congratulations to John and Anne and all the Moran family
