I knew Johnny Waters very well; in fact he made my wedding suit. Lived in McHale and before that had a tailoring business in Rush Street, Castlebar. He was married to a very nice lady, Delia Kelly, from Lufferton, Ballintubber, about six miles from Castlebar. Knew Vincent Waters very well, married Annie McDonagh who worked in the bacon factory with my late sister Mary. As a another contributor remarked, Johnny was a keen card player and also played billiards and snooker. I may be wrong, but I have a feeling he was born in Dublin. A very witty and good humoured man with a great turn of phrase. Worked with his daughter Esther in the Connaught Telegraph. There was also an older sister, Maureen, and brother Mickey. Nice, decent family. I met Vincent in Castlebar many years ago. He also worked in the bacon factory. Regards to all the Waters family from all in Castlebar. Keep in touch. Up the 'Bar!
