I dont know if this is the correct place to talk about light pollution, but my sympathy for any astrophotographers in the Castlebar region. Why in the name of God must the Welcome Inn use this intense light beam to advertise its presence and destroy the night sky for those of us who wish to behold the wonders of the heavens? Indeed what is the purpose of floodlighting the Churches in town and the monastary also - I'm sure this wasted energy is costly, serves no important purpose and is a major source of light pollution.
