Castlebar Laundry?

Does anyone know if there was a laundry in Castlebar? I know the Mercy Order had a boarding school at one stage, before it became a Secondary School.If so,what were the conditions of it,how were the "workers" treated and what happened to it?
I would be grateful for any information.
