The remains of the tree were removed
from the Mall in the 1920s and stored
somewhere or other.I wonder if in the
passage of time its significance was
forgotten and it was discarded.
Similarily with the stone from the
old Goal that supposedly fell off a
cart at Spencer Park and lay at the
side of the road until 10/15 years ago.
Wheres it now?
