Posted by Philip on November 24, 2003 at 10:56:32: The Mayo Strings return to Ballintubber Abbey for their annual pre-Christmas concert on Sunday December 7th at 8.30p.m. As in past years they are joined by Soprano Sandra Schalks from Headford and a talented ensemble of readers. The programme will be the customary mixture of Baroque and later music for string orchestra, contrasting solos for our singer and both familiar and unusual readings on the subject of music and Christmas. The final section is dedicated entirely to the coming festive season, ending with well-known carols in which the audience are invited to participate. Admission €10, and €5 for the usual categories.
