Lecanvey the family holiday centre before then
and now. Sand in the sandwitches, smokey tea, rocky
beaches, a cold wind but Peggy Stauntons and cone
ice creams at the petrol pumps. Old Head a bit further
but worth the effort. Sheltered sandy nooks (later "nooky"?)
fishing from the rocks, Pierce Carney living or holidaying
like a lord in the little red galvanised hut where the lifeguard
station is now, tea etc in Old Head House hotel. Bertra, mo gra tu,
but coming back from a swim when the tide was out the wind
would skin ya. Mackeral fishing at the point.
