Yes, that's it, MM. I took it as a subject but it was so boring. We never cooked anything exciting. We had to cook in groups of three (too many cooks...!) and it was so awkward dividing out the ingredients. I can remember having to bring in lemons and gherkins which were not too easy to get. Some of the dishes we cooked were Stuffed Liver and Bacon and those awful puddings -semolina, bread and butter etc. We had great fun making the pancakes because someone would always want to toss them and of course would miss the frying pan! The cooker used to be in a terrible state which meant a lot of cleaning up afterwards. I can remember baking brown bread also - it was like a rock!
As part of domestic science we also did sewing. We made an apron and a slip which I am sure none of us ever wore. We had Mrs.Kenny, Enda's mother, teach us for a while - a real lady!
