There was one at Twiggs`s corner at the bottom of Gallows Hill. One at the junction of Newantrim St. and Linenhall St.
There was a spring well on the Newport Rd. on the right hand side just past O`Kelly`s house in frony of O`Donnell`s the former Co. Secretary. This aws maintained by Pop Dean who lived opposite the hat factory. He whitewashed the surrounding stonework every summer. The coldest clearest water imaginable to quench your thirst on a hot summer day.
