Johnnies field brings back memories and like
Spencer Park was a huge loss to the town.Combo
was played at Mai Faulkners gate but attempts
by the Davitt gang to increase its popularity
by having it played in the school yard failed.
Just like skating on the back of creamery lorries
it was an area thing.
Similarily bogeys and bicyle wheel racing were
fads for a time but no more.
There was a family in Charles street who emigrated
to the states and a lad Sam who wasfull of divilment.
He and the other lads were fishing off the
Barrack bridge one day when Fr Charles O Malley
was passing and asked what they were doing.
