YES MM, people still pay ground rent to Lord Lucan's estate. In fact, within the past hour, this came up in conversation in company here.
A lady close to our office here, has had to take out a loan to buy out the ground rent of her house for £8,000. That means she will not have to pay any more ground rent.
My mother still pays for our own house. The sum used to be 10d. in old money but went up to 5p. when decimalisation came in! It is paid yearly to Egan solicitors who now are the agents for Lord Lucan's estate. Don't ask me wht they do with the money, I don't know. My mother's ground rent is a very small annual rent, and as far as I know, the rent varies for different parts of town.
