The Mr. Cannon from Market Sq. was Eddie Cannon, Father of Michael, Mary and Pat.
Cannon`s pub on Market Sq. which has sadly been closed since the passing of Eddie, has recently had a preservation order placed on it`s shopfront by the UDC. Eddie was a good artist and always kept the walls of the pub adorned with hand painted coats of arms. A recent Parish Magazine featured a clour snap of Eddie behind the bar serving some customers. A piece of cailc was always to hand for totting up the round on the wooden counter top and while pulling a pint the lighted cigarette was shoved between ear and head as a carpenter would with his pencil!
